Colts: Colts: MAFC 6.6. 42 - WG 8. 7. 55
This week the Colts found themselves against the top of the ladder and undefeated Gorillas.
What looked to be a high scoring game with 9 goals kicked in the first quarter the weather soon set in. It soon became a battle around contested ball. The boys managed to keep the opposition scoreless for the 3rd quarter which found us down by only 6 points. The endeavour from the boys in the last just wasn’t enough to get us over the line. Suffering our second defeat for the season by 13 points.
Encouraging signs for our group as we can now mix it with the best in the competition. We look forward to the challenge over the coming weeks as we work toward building the rest of our season.
Special mention to Allan O’Neill for his first game as a Colt.
Reserves: Reserves MAFC 6.7.43 - WG 8.3.51
The young reserve grade side worked hard in what was a close contest all game. The last 10 – 15 minutes of the second quarter ended up being where the game was won and lost. Concentration at times become an issue for the young side at times and the team drifted away from their game-plan in key moments. The boys were still in the hunt for a win with 10 minutes to go but just couldn’t get the job done. Plenty of improvement to come.
Senior Game: Seniors MAFC 6.9 45 - WG 9.9 63
The miserable weather at times during the game resulted in a scrappy battle between the two teams. Their were missed opportunities by the senior men's who couldn't convert possession to scoreboard pressure unfortunately. Players intent was good, pressure on the opposition was solid, especially at Centre bounce. The team needs to work on areas of their game and keep improving looking forward.
Our next game is Round 5 clash against Aspley Hornets away on Saturday April 30th.
