WEEKLY ROUND UP at the Panthers!

Updated: Jun 29, 2022

Tuesday 28th June 2022.

STRONG PERFORMANCES ACROSS THE BOARD LAST SATURDAY

Seniors.

Over the weekend the Seniors fell short against the Redlands Sharks away from home. However the loss inside our group we couldn't be more proud of our effort yesterday and the ability to turn around a 100pt loss against Redland in Rd 1 to only go down by 19pts after being in front at half time and 3 quarter time.

Redland are a top 2 team and arguably the best midfield our young team has come up against. Darcy Cameron Reeves starred up forward, kicking 4 goals We will continue to improve, keep working on executing the fundamentals and building our team.

It's a quick turn around with our next game being this Thursday against Sherwood at Sherwood. Reserves:

The Reserves started strongly their defensive efforts were solid against one of the top sides in the competition. Only a couple of points down at quarter time. The effort continued in the second quarter although our goal scoring dried up. But were still only 3 goals down at half time.

Unfortunately the second half was not as strong and we gave away far too many scoring opportunities to Redlands in a disappointing performance.

Many lessons for us in this. Maintaining effort and concentration for four quarters is what we need as well as structural awareness. Colts: A must win game for the group this week. This week still couldn’t see us put 4 quarters of football together however, it did prove in moments of the game what we can play. A 7 goal second quarter set the game up for us. Running out convincing winners by 90 points. We look forward to being challenged this week at we take on Sherwood this coming Friday night.

NEXT GAME SHERWOOD THURSDAY NIGHT 7:30 PM - AWAY

SENIORS: Final Score: RED 14.15 99 MAFC 11.14 80 RESERVES: Final Score: RED 16.08 104 MAFC 4.2 26 COLTS Final Score: RED 1.2 8 MAFC 15.8 98

GIRLS PUT IN ANOTHER SOLID PERFORMANCE LAST SATURDAY

It was a great win for our seniors over the weekend at home with a sound win against the opposition Coolangatta Blues. It was a big congratulations to Amanda and Ash on reaching their 50 game milestones for the Panthers. Unfortunately for the Reserves the Coolangatta Reserves forfeited their game. Which means the Reserves get the automatic 4 points.

The girls have earned a well deserved break with their bye coming up this weekend.

Next game:

Saturday the 9th of July, the girls will travel to Burleigh which looks to be a great test of character with the long travel ahead. But in the meantime the girls enjoy a bye.

MABEL'S ROUND 9th OF JULY BRISBANE LIONS JUMPER AUCTION AND MORE!

The Morningside Panthers and Hawthorne Garage are proud to host Mabel's Round at Jack Esplen Oval in support of the Mabel Olive Airi Foundation.

The Mabel Olive Airi Foundation has been created to honour the life of Mabel Olive Airi Goya, who passed away as a result of pneumococcal meningitis on the 22nd of September, 2021.

She was healthy, fully vaccinated, and just 6.5 months old. The foundations objective is to raise awareness of this devastating disease and to raise funds to help others. As Mabel’s mum Carly says "we still cannot believe this happened to our beautiful daughter. She was joy, she was sunshine, and she didn't deserve this."

The Foundation is how we tell the world Mabel’s story. This is how Mabel lives on. The two charities that the Foundation fundraisers for are:

1. Meningitis Centre Australia - working to defeat meningitis through awareness, education and community support.

2. Precious Wings - providing love, hope, understanding and support to families facing the devastating loss of their child.

Come support this great cause on Saturday 9th of July as the boys take to the field at HOME in support of Mabel against Aspley Hornets.
